Senior Director, Finance

This Senior Director, Finance role has oversight for the end-to-end financial management of the High-Performance-Chromatography-Solutions (HPCS) business unit with annual sales of several-hundred million dollars.  It is a global portfolio-based business unit, serving a broad range of industries. This position is based at our Germering, Germany Center of Excellence, close to Munich. 

 

As Senior Director of Finance you will collaborate with the Vice President/General Manager to strategically distribute capital to continue to stimulate growth and enhance profitability. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of excellence in strategic portfolio management, consistent P&L leadership, fostering cultural transformation, building interpersonal trust and partnerships, and attracting, retaining, and nurturing talent. Experience with SAP ERP in a manufacturing environment and experience with manufacturing operations is desired. This role will report to the Division Vice-President of Finance and will oversee a team of finance and accounting professionals based globally, while also serving on the Business Unit's leadership team.

 

While full relocation is not required, you will need to be co-located with the business in Germering at least 4-days/week to enable in-person collaboration & leadership.  We are willing to support relocation if this is your preference, or else provide financial support for weekly travel/accommodation costs if you prefer to commute from another location.

Your Tasks.

What will you do? 

Core Financial Responsibilities: 

  • Provide comprehensive financial leadership, encompassing P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and investment decisions
  • Lead the annual strategic and financial planning processes, manage month-end closures including reporting, forecasting, and proactive financial management to identify business risks and opportunities for mitigation, ensuring predictable financial outcomes
  • Drive detailed & standardized financial reporting and business metrics to support sound investment decisions, profitable growth, and financial accountability
  • Prioritize investments effectively to boost value
  • Collaborate with world-wide commercial teams, ensure analytics and oversight of manufacturing operations across 4 sites across the world and ensure R&D outcomes to enhance shareholder value

 

Organizational Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Build, lead, mentor, and develop a diverse global team, from Analysts to Senior Finance Managers
  • Offer exceptional financial and strategic support to the V.P./General Manager and other members of the Business Unit leadership team, collaborating effectively with all other functions
  • Work closely with HPCS global commercial sales, manufacturing operations, marketing, HR, R&D, and IT teams to drive enhancements in pricing, sales strategies, market entry, new product introductions, business solutions, and manufacturing operations
  • Foster an environment that both challenges and supports with mentorship and strategic insights
  • Adopt a continuous improvement mentality and PPI principles, welcoming external perspectives that progress the finance organization's agenda

Statutory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance and accounting-controllership are integrated into business decisions, in line with company policies, US GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act
  • Provide finance leadership for the global Business Unit sites and provide statutory reporting oversight

Your Requirement Profile.

Education:

  • An undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; MBA desired

Experience:

  • A minimum of 15 years of finance experience inclusive of prior P&L management experience
  • Consistent record delivering outstanding results and getting results beyond the finance function
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, confident and mature manager, and business partner
  • Ability to effectively lead and implement ideas in a matrix environment and across functional and global business reporting structures
  • Prior experience with manufacturing operations a plus

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Outstanding analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication skills, both spoken and written, with all levels of management
  • Strong systems and analytic capabilities including HFM, Navision & SAP
  • Must possess a strong set of personal and business values aligned with our 4i values
  • Fluent in English and German
  • Ability to travel domestic and internationally ~25%.
